People in Farnborough are being asked to give their thoughts on plans to regenerate the Civic Quarter.

The aim is to create a new heart for the town with the current site transformed into a mixed-use development including:

• Large central park which will create a heart for the community

• A new leisure centre

• Approximately 1,000 new homes designed for different housing needs in the local community

• A civic hub including a new library

• A new skate park

• New cafes and restaurants to help boost the local economy

The proposals are based on consultations held in 2019 and March 2021, which identified what local people would like to see prioritised as part of the masterplan.

A public consultation is now taking place on the masterplan from 6 to 26 September.

Two in-person exhibition events will also take place where local people will be able to find out more about the proposals and members of the project team will be on hand to answer any questions.

These will take place at the Rushmoor Borough Council Offices in Farnborough on:

• Thursday 16 September – 5pm to 8pm

• Saturday 18 September – Midday to 4pm

Councillor Martin Tennant, Chair of the Rushmoor Development Partnership, commented:

“We are one step closer to creating a new vibrant space for town centre living, which allows people to celebrate their community, shop local, access services, work collaboratively and socialise with friends.

"We look forward to listening to the views of local people in the consultation and using this to ensure the Civic Quarter benefits all of Farnborough.”
