Hampshire based charity Harry's Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust says it's over the moon after being revealed as one of the chosen charities on Celebrity Mastermind last night.

Former EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami was in the famous black chair answering questions from Clive Myrie on his specialist subject, The Battle of Thermopylae. He won £3,000 which will help to support children and their families impacted by hydrocephalus.

The condition is also known as water on the brain, and affects 1 in 770 babies in the United Kingdom. Symptoms include an unusually large or rapidly growing head in the first year of a baby's life. The condition can often be identified through routine monitoring of a baby's head circumference.

Caroline Coates is Chief Executive of Harry's HAT, she said:

"This money will make a tremendous difference and will be used to fund our vitalGet -A-Head campaign. It means we will be able to reach more expectant and new parents to help them understand why infant head circumference measurement is so important as a tool for identifying babies showing signs of Hydrocephalus."

Davood Ghadami first learned of the charity after meeting a friend in the gym, whose son has hydrocephalus:

"I know about the charity through a friend of mine who I train with. Matt and Leanne's little boy Leo has hydrocephalus and they've been telling me about their journey. Leo's doing brilliantly now and seeing how Harry's HAT have helped him and the family has been really eye opening and something that I've shown a real interest in. I've seen the product of what Harry's HAT does and that's why I wanted to offer this money to them, for the great work that they do.

"Having spoken to Matt about Leo's condition and what that means, it's far more common than people realise. Harry's HAT deserves to be a well-recognised charity and, from the work they do, hopefully they will be. Being able to put them out there on Celebrity Mastermind is a good opportunity to make people aware of them and what they're about, so hopefully it will have a positive effect on them going forwards. The work they do is just wonderful."
