It's now been confirmed that the old leisure centre WILL be knocked down, so that a new one can be built.

The council decided on Tuesday (8th June) that it's time to go ahead with the plan.

Councillor Martin Tennant, Cabinet Member for Major Projects and Property at Rushmoor Borough Council, said:

"We can't wait to bring our residents a brand-new leisure centre and progressing the demolition work straight away means that we can move ahead with our exciting redevelopment plans as soon as possible."

It was agreed in February that the old site, in Westmead, would not reopen when lockdown restrictions eased.

Rushmoor Borough Council has now approved £1.1 million pounds of funding to go towards the new build.

A new leisure centre and swimming pool will open in the Civic Quarter in Farnborough, although a date for that has not yet been released.
