Fleet woman arrested after fire in Crookham Village

A woman from Fleet has been arrested after a blaze broke out at a home in Crookham Village.

Rushmoor and Fleet fire crews, as well as the police, were called to the domestic property in Hitches Lane before 7pm last night (6 April) to find the property alight.

The 57 year old suspect was initially taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

She was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. and has been released under investigation.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue say the fire was extinguished using six sets of breathing apparatus, one jet and two hose reels.

There was heavy smoke throughout the property with 100% fire damage to the first-floor landing.

The blaze was extinguished before 8pm.
