Land Rover “torched” alongside dozens of full oil barrels near Fleet

Police are treating the blaze as suspicious.

An investigation is underway after a Land Rover was torched with a large amount of oil near Fleet.

Firefighters were called to Rotten Green Lane in Elvetham late on Saturday night (5 September).

Crews arrived shortly after 10.20pm to find the vehicle ablaze, alongside 33 full 25 litre drums of used engine oil.

Police say the car had no registration plate and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

In a statement Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called at 10.22pm on 5 September to reports of a vehicle on fire on Rotten Green Lane, Elvetham.

“Officers have attended and located a burnt-out Land Rover with no identifiable chassis number or registration number.

“The fire is being treated as suspicious. If anyone has any information, they can phone 101 with the reference 44200343185.”
