Large fire breaks out at Caesar's Camp in Aldershot

Fire crews have been tackling a large fire through the night at Caesars Camp in Aldershot.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue were first made aware of the blaze involving undergrowth at around 9:40pm on Tuesday night (1 February).

Appliances from Rushmoor, Fleet, Hartley Wintney, Bordon and Andover were sent to the scene, just off Bourley Road and Surrey Fire and Rescue also helped deal with the fire.

An area approximately 150m x 150m went up in flames.

Reports on social media say the fire could be seen from miles away.

Hartley Witney Fire Station said on Twitter that the fire was being fought in 'difficult conditions.'

Rushmoor Fire Station described the incident as: "Very difficult windy conditions with harsh terrain. Fantastic effort from all crews to extinguish this fire tonight."

Rushmoor Fire Station tweeted at around 4am to say the fire had been extinguished.
