A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with an ongoing murder investigation in Surrey.

26-year-old Shaan Mir, of Arlington Lodge in Weybridge, is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court today (26 April).

It is after 49 year old Matthew Tester, known locally as Tik, died at the scene after police were called to reports of an incident on Church Road in Walton-on-Thames last Thursday (22 April).

A second victim, also in his 40s, was treated in hospital and is recovering from serious injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector David Springett, who is leading the investigation, said: "This is an extremely difficult time for Tik's family and I would ask that their privacy is respected to allow them to grieve in peace."
