Surrey man arrested over suspected car theft in Twickenham

A 33-year-old from Chertsey is among three suspected burglars

A man from Surrey has been arrested, along with a couple from Middlesex, on suspicion of stealing a vehicle in Twickenham.

Hampshire Police officers on patrol in Hedge End on Saturday morning (22 Jan) arrested three people from Surrey and Middlesex on suspicion of theft offences.

It comes after the officers spotted an abandoned grey Mercedes-Benz on Portsmouth Road at around 10.15am on Saturday 22 January.

Enquiries established that the vehicle had been stolen from the Twickenham area; with a member of the public approaching officers to state that they’d seen three people who had been in the vehicle stood at a bus stop on Hamble Lane.

While a 33-year-old man from Chertsey in Surrey was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

A 33-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, both from Hounslow in Middlesex, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

All three were transferred to another force while they carry out their own enquiries.
