A man who took photos of young girls in toilets has been found guilty of voyeurism offences.

26 year old Luke Murdoch of Worthing was handed a nine month custodial sentence.

The first of the offences happened on 20 May 2019 where police officers were called to the Spectrum Leisure Centre following reports that a man was in the women's toilets filming under the cubicles.

The victim, a 15 year-old girl, had seen a camera phone being placed beneath the stall.

The second incident occurred on 23 October 2019 and officers were called to Burger King at Ladymead after an 11-year-old girl was followed into the bathrooms and photographed whilst on the toilet.

Murdoch was identified after CCTV footage was circulated as part of a police appeal.

He was arrested on 17 December 2019 and subsequently charged with voyeurism.

After his arrest a forensic search of his phone uncovered further voyeuristic images of adult women that appeared to have been taken in various public toilets.

On Thursday (11 March) Murdoch was sentenced to nine months behind bars and given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 10 years.

Prevention orders are issued if someone is considered a risk to the wider public or a specific individual and prohibits the individual from doing specified things.

Any breach is punishable by a sentence of up to five years.
