Extra school places for children with special educational needs will be available from September 2022, following agreement to go ahead with an expansion at Samuel Cody Specialist Sports College in Farnborough.

Hampshire County Council says Samuel Cody Specialist Sports College will be offering more places for pupils aged 10 to 16,.

It will see intake going from 205 to 295.

It is one of two special needs schools in the county being expanded - the other is Icknield School in Andover.

Hampshire County Council's Executive member for Education and Skills Councillor Roz Chadd commented:

“We know that additional places within specialist school provision, for children with additional needs, are going to be very much needed as our communities grow across the county so I fully support the recommendations to expand both schools in the local authority districts of Rushmoor and Test Valley. This is completely in line with our commitment to develop existing successful provision and create new provision to meet demand.”

Samuel Cody Specialist Sports College

An all-through special school for 4 to 16 year-olds with moderate learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. The expansion will cater especially for pupils aged 10 to 16 with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
