Planning proposals have been submitted to Waverley Borough Council for a Drive-Thru Costa Coffee outlet in Farnham.

The plans would see the site built on part of the car park of the Farnham Retail Park on the A325, Guildford Road – a short distance from the Shepard and Flock roundabout on the A31.

It would be in addition to the existing coffee shop owned by the chain in the town centre.

Among documents submitted as part of the planning application, it is forecast the drive-thru could see a weekday peak of “around 50 vehicles per hour”.

On the development Nick Wright, Costa’s South East Acquisitions Manager, said: “Our customers are central to everything we do, and as such, Costa’s acquisition strategy is to meet their needs by providing the right store format in the right location to best cater for the specific customer occasion.

“There are often multiple customer occasions within any given town, city or suburb, and our market segmentation shows that selecting the correct format to cater for each occasion is key to delivering a successful store.”

He added: “We are seeking to implement the same strategy at Farnham, and look forward to opening the Drive Thru at Farnham Retail Park as an addition to the existing high street representation we have nearby.”
