A number of roads remain flooded in Surrey in the aftermath of Storm Henk.

Strong winds and heavy rain battered parts of the UK last week (5th January),

As of today (10 January) the Environment Agency have 23 flood warnings in place around Surrey mostly around the Thames.

Surrey Police have issued an update of road closures locally:

Chertsey Bridge, Bridge Road & Chertsey Bridge Road, #Chertsey - Please do not drive down Bridge Road unless you live or work on there. It appears that this will be closed/assessed next on 17/01/2024.

Windsor Road, Egham - The entire length of this is closed and incredibly deep.

Coldharbour Lane, Thorpe - This is closed due to floods, there are service covers that will become dislodged.

Chertsey Lane, Staines-Upon-Thames - Between the petrol station and Coopers Close this remains closed. It is incredibly deep, do not try to drive through.

We have been out speaking with residents along Chertsey Lane, Penton Park, Laleham Reach / Northern Burway, and Chertsey Meads to ensure they are safe, and their property is protected. Liaison with Fire & Rescue is underway and have passed information about other areas of interest.

Personal Safety advice:

Do not drive in flood water - you may not be insured if you contravene these road closure signs. If you get flooded, they may not pay out.

Do not walk in flood water unless you have to in an emergency. If you do have to, wear waterproof clothing, and take a pole or similar to put in front of you to ensure there are no dislodged service covers or drains.

People are being asked to plan their journeys and consult online mapping for road closures before you head out.

Officers will be out today ensuring the safety of residents and property.
