Capacity at Covid-19 vaccination sites is going to be stepped up this weekend ahead of Christmas.

Vaccination centres across Surrey Heartlands, such as Sandown Race Park and Artington Park and Ride in Guildford will be able to accept more people for their jabs to help you protect your friends, family and loved ones over the coming festive period.

Those eligible include:

• Boosters – People aged 40+ and it needs to have been six months since your second dose. Appointments can now be booked five months after having a second dose (with vaccination at six months)

• First doses – for anyone over the age of the 12

• Second doses – for anyone aged 16 or 17 (if first vaccination was at least 12 weeks ago)

• Third primary doses – for those who are immuno-supressed

Dr Vaughan Lewis, Regional Medical Director, said:

“As we fast approach Christmas, a hugely important time for so many of us, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the festivities safely. One of the best ways to do this is by joining the millions already vaccinated across the South East.

“Whether you’re due your booster or second dose, or indeed you’re yet to have your first dose, additional vaccination capacity has been put in place for this weekend so head down to a site that is convenient for you.

“Having your vaccine this weekend, will give you the maximum protection ahead of Christmas to protect you, your family and all those around you.”
