Teenage driver killed in head-on crash with taxi in Tongham

A teenage driver has been killed in a crash in Tongham.

The motorist was in a VW Polo, which collided head on with a taxi travelling in the opposite direction in Oxenden Road yesterday (26 September) just after 1am.

Police say in total, seven passengers in the Polo were taken to hospital - two are seriously injured.

The taxi driver, who was not carrying any passengers at the time, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.

Detective Sergeant Kani Barawi, who is dealing with the incident, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of the boys involved in this tragic incident, which has left one teenager dead and two more in a serious condition in hospital.

We are working hard to establish the circumstances of the crash and would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us straightaway.”
