There's an appeal for information after a woman who was involved in a collision in Mytchett earlier this year has sadly died.

The collision took place around 3.50pm on Wednesday 28 June outside Mytchett Community Centre in Mytchett Road near the junction with Coleford Bridge Road.

The woman, who has been identified as 85-year-old Carole Hayward, was found in the road with leg injuries and officers believe she was the victim of a fail to stop collision.

Following a prolonged period in hospital, Mrs Hayward sadly died as a result of her injuries.

An investigation into the circumstances of Mrs Hayward's death is underway and officers are trying to trace a dark car which was seen leaving the scene and is believed to have been involved in the collision.

Detective Constable Richard Edwards, who is investigating the incident, said: “Firstly, on behalf of Surrey Police, I would like to express my condolences to the family and friends of Carole Hayward at this difficult time. We are doing everything we can to establish the circumstances and to trace the vehicle we believe may have been involved.

“We are appealing to anyone who lives in the Mytchett area and may have CCTV (including doorbell footage), or dash camera footage from that day and time, to get in touch, particularly if the footage shows a dark vehicle.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who was walking around the area and witnessed a dark-coloured car, possibly driving erratically.”
