Woman sexually assaulted by man with knife in Guildford

An investigation is underway after a woman was sexually assaulted by a man with a knife in Guildford.

The suspect followed her as she walked down York Road at around 12:40am on Sunday (31 July).

The man began speaking to her as she turned onto Clandon Road, continuing to follow her as she carried on walking.

The man then produced a knife before inappropriately touching her.

She was able to walk away from the man and leave the area.

The man is described as White, around 18-25 years old, 5ft 8 in height and of athletic build with black curly hair which was short at the sides and longer on top.

He spoke with an accent, possibly Italian, and was wearing a light grey or white long sleeved top with light blue jeans.

PC Glue, who is investigating the incident, said:

“This is very concerning behaviour and I’d like to reassure the community that we are carrying out a thorough investigation, which includes appealing for witnesses.

"We’d like to speak to anyone who was passing through the area at the time and may have dashcam or CCTV footage, or anyone who may recognise the description of the suspect.

“I would also like to appeal to anyone who may have experienced something similar to please report it to us straightaway, your report will be taken extremely seriously.”
