The Brighton bin strike could soon be over.

An agreement has been reached between GMB Union members and Brighton and Hove City Council during crunch talks today.

Gary Palmer, GMB organiser said: “Subject to GMB members sign off tomorrow morning at 7am - and the council passing it at the policy and resources committee meeting on Tuesday - an agreement between Brighton and hove council and GMB has been reached.

“If the agreement is passed by both parties, GMB will immediately suspend 30 days of strike action due to commence on October 21.”

It'll bring an end to the two-week long strike, triggered as part of a dispute over pay and working conditions from Brighton's Cityclean staff.

Regardless of the agreement, a break in the strike is taking place from tomorrow (18 October) until Wednesday so some of the rubbish can be cleared up as the council says it "presents a significant health and safety risk".
