A Sussex school choir has put on a special performance to raise money for people displaced by the war in Ukraine.

Westbourne House School's Chapel Choir sang at the Boxgrove Priory last night (23rd of March).

Their school has partnered up with the charity Children on the Edge to raise money for Ukrainian refugees in Romania and Moldova.

It forms part of their fundraising efforts which has so far seen the school raise over £7,000.

Head of charities at the school, Helen Barker said: "The ethos of the school is very much about helping. The children are very interested in what's going over there and they're quite frightened by what's going on over there, so this is a way they can help.

"They (Children on the Edge) are directly sending me emails to say where that money is going. That's important because sometimes when people give money they really want to know it's going to the right place. We really feel confident that we know exactly where it's going."

During the interval, Greatest Hits Radio spoke with some members of the choir about their fundraising efforts.

Emily and Elizabeth said: "We are extremely privileged in the position that we're in and it's really nice to be able to help the people who are struggling severely. They're (Children on the Edge) helping both adults and children find safety and shelter which is incredible and it's really nice to be a part of that."

Fellow singers Max and Ludo also gave us their thoughts. They said: "I feel really proud to be singing and doing my bit for helping the people in Ukraine. I feel proud that our school is joining in to help people get to different countries."

Having smashed their original £1000 target, the school is showing no signs of slowing down to raise as much money as possible for Ukrainian refugees.
