An East Grinstead artist has generously donated two original paintings to the children's Peanut Ward at Queen Victoria hospital.

Christine Bleny originally created one of the paintings for her next door neighbours young son as a Christmas present.

However, when the family redecorated Christine's neighbour, who works at the hospital, suggested donating them.

Christine said: "I like to brighten up the life of everyone. When you have a painting you just want a connection with it and to feel good about it.

"The theme of the Peanut Ward is a fish so it was really on point".

The artist, originally from France, isn't planning on stopping there either. Christine is hoping to produce and donate more artwork for the hospital in the future.

She continued: "The hospital matron told me 'you know what, in the future I would like a mural for the kids' and I said 'ok I'm ready for it'.

"I really love how they kids react when they see a beautiful painting full of colours. Their eyes brighten, I can see the happiness and that makes me happy".
