A fire which spread to the roofs of three terraced houses in Arundel has been brought under control by fire crews.

Teams were alerted to reports of a blaze involving five properties in Crossbush Lane at around 7pm on Tuesday (March 9th).

Seven engines were called to the scene, two each from Littlehampton and Worthing and one each from Arundel, East Preston and Chichester.

They were joined at the scene by the Aerial Ladder Platform from Worthing, the Water Carrier from Petworth and Incident Command Unit from Bognor.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said:

“All persons were accounted for at the scene and crews quickly got to work to bring the fire under control, after it had spread through the roofs of the three properties.

“Residents living nearby were advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to the amount of smoke in the area.

“A relief crew was scheduled to attend from 1am to ensure there are no further hotspots.”
