Friends to tackle 132 mile pier to pier walk for Sussex children's hospice
It'll take Billy and Ryan four days to complete their journey
Two friends from Sussex are taking on a 132-mile trek from Bournemouth Pier to Hastings Pier to raise funds for an Arundel-based children’s hospice.
Billy Kewley and Ryan Hodd from Hastings have given themselves just four days to complete the challenge, in aid of Chestnut Tree House.
They will be setting off from Bournemouth in Dorset on Thursday (May 6th), walking through South East Hampshire and West Sussex, and hope to arrive at Hastings Pier in East Sussex by (May 9th).
Billy said:
“There is a very straight forward reason why we are doing this. Since the beginning of the pandemic, many charities have found themselves restricted when it comes to fundraising. Shops had to close, events have been cancelled and face-to-face fundraising hasn’t been possible.
“The knock-on effect is simple – as donations reduce so too does a charity’s ability to provide critical services in communities. "Charities just like Chestnut Tree House, who provide vital care and support to children with life-shortening conditions and their families across Sussex and South East Hampshire.”
Before setting off on their challenge, the pair have already raised over £3,000 for Chestnut Tree House, smashing their £1,000 fundraising target.
Billy added:
“Both myself and Ryan are aware how tough this past year has been for everyone, but hopefully this challenge we’ve set ourselves will provide some much-needed support to an amazing cause.”
