Two cyclists on a 1,500 miles journey around the coast of England and Wales have paid a visit to Littlehampton's RNLI rescue team.

Beth Barratt and Kate Bourn dropped in on the base on Tuesday as part of their ride, which is raising money for the publically-funded lifeboat charity.

The pair were greeted by crew at the boathouse in Fisherman's Quay, which is currently closed to visitors, and took photos with the base's boats.

Beth and Kate plan to visit 100 lifeboat stations around the coast of England and Wales over the next two months.

The pair started their journey from the Poole headquarters of the RNLI on Monday.

When asked why they are raising money for the RNLI the cyclists said:

"We love the sea, but have a healthy fear and respect for the water. Between us we row, kayak, paddle board, surf and sail.

"Luckily, we have never needed the support of the RNLI, but they are there for us every day, just in case."
