Lightning strikes two buildings in West Sussex
Fire crews attended two incidents in the early hours of this morning
Fire crews in West Sussex have been dealing with two incidents where a lightening strike has damaged a building.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were first called at 1:44am this morning (2 May) to a residential care home in Elmer, no fire was found and residents have now been safely relocated.
Just an hour later (2:24am), they were called to a university building in College Lane in Chichester and students have also been relocated.
SSE attended both incidents to make the electricity supply safe.
Other areas of the country saw near-constant lightning flashes overnight, with a Met Office yellow weather warning extended across southern England until 10am.
It was supposed to expire at 6.
Forecasters also predict the warmest day of the year so far.
