A man from Littlehampton went to great heights to organise the perfect proposal for his girlfriend.

Josh Allies, 25 got down on one knee to his now fiancee, Jade Clark, 25, on the sand dudes at West Beach on Friday 4 September, while an aeroplane flew overhead with a banner which read 'Jade will you marry me'

He said:

"I really love the idea of doing something big, especially down the beach as we're quite nautical people. I thought 'it's got to be down the beach, I can't get a boat sailing across as such so I wanted a plane."

Josh hired a plane to fly past with a banner with his proposal

He picked Friday (September 4) because they got together seven years ago on this date.

Josh then arranged for an Air Ads plane to fly from their base in Blackpool, to circle the skies while he popped the question.

He had also arranged for their families to hide behind the sand dunes so they could jump out and surprise her further.

He added:

"We had some wonderful horses running up the beach and then the plane flew by. I had my family and Jade's family waiting behind some sand dunes to run out and congratulate us which Jade had no idea about."

Josh and Jade's families jumped out to surprise the newly engaged couple.

All his hard work to make it all run smoothly was a success as Jade said yes in front of all their family:

"It was very surreal. When I saw the plane coming past, Jade had no idea; and even getting down on one knee - it was very surreal.

"Jade didn't say yes to start with - she kept saying to me 'are you sure?' But she did say yes and there were some tears flying around the family".
