Man allegedly held at knifepoint in attempted robbery in Chichester

Police are looking for anyone who may have seen what happenend on Canal Wharf.

A man's been confronted by a man, who asked him to hand over his belongings in West Sussex.

The victim was walking along Canal Wharf into Stockbridge Road at around 2am on Friday (30th April) when he was approached.

The suspect allegedly brandished a knife.

Fortunately, the male victim was able to run away unharmed with nothing stolen from him.

APPEAL

It's believed the suspect is:

  • Aged between 20 and 40
  • Around 5ft 5inches
  • Northern Accent
  • Wearing a black hoodie and black tracksuit bottoms
  • Has a scar, tattoo or bruising below one of his eyes

Detective Sergeant Emma Fields, from Sussex Police said:

"Fortunately the victim was able to escape the suspect unharmed but the incident has, understandably, shaken him.

"We are eager to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, saw a man matching the description or believe you may have home CCTV which could assist our investigation to make contact with us without delay.

“"High visibility patrols have been increased in the area while we continue our investigation and we are conducting a number of inquiries to identify the suspect."
