A 49-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following concerns for welfare at Crawley College.

Police and other emergency services, including the South East Coast Ambulance service, were called to the campus in College Road at just after midday on Thursday (April 25th).

Officers say the incident is an isolated one and that there is no wider threat to the public.

In a statement, a Crawley College spokesperson said that the College Road campus was 'safe' and 'open for all classes' thanks to the ‘swift actions’ of the emergency services.

"We would like to reassure our college community that this was an isolated incident involving one individual. We are working with Sussex Police and can confirm there is believed to have been no threat to the college or the wider public.

"We understand there has been a lot of false speculation about the nature of the incident on social media, while we cannot comment on specific detail we do want to assure everyone that the college is safe and remains open for all classes. "
