Rock frontman taking on gruelling fitness challenge in aid of Arundel hospice
Royal Blood's Mike Kerr is in for a busy weekend
A rock band frontman is psyching himself up to take on a 48-hour fitness challenge this weekend in aid of a children's hospice based in Arundel.
Usually associated with being in a studio, on tour or performing at festivals like Download and Glastonbury, Mike Kerr – one half of rock duo Royal Blood - is raising money for Chestnut Tree House.
The singer and bassist of the Brighton-based band is doing the 4x4x48 Challenge, which means he’ll be running four miles every four hours for 48 hours, starting at 4am on Saturday (March 6th)
Started by retired Navy SEAL and American endurance athlete, David Goggins, in 2020, the 4x4x48 Challenge is free to enter and people from around the world will be taking part and raising money for different charities.
Everyone will start and complete the challenge at the same time (8pm PST, 5 March, which is 4am GMT, 6 March), exercising for around 45-60 minutes of each four-hour leg for 48 hours.
Explaining why he’s taking part and supporting Chestnut Tree House, Mike said:
“I got into running during lockdown and when I heard about this endurance challenge, I thought ‘why not’?!
"I like the idea that many other people around the world will be taking part at the same time and raising money for lots of worthwhile causes.
“Chestnut Tree House is my local children’s hospice, and while they need support all the time, they’ve been hit hard by the pandemic so I’m hoping to raise some funds for the vital work they do.
"The care they provide for children and families is so important. I’m honoured to be able to help in this small way.”

Mike had raised more than £4,000 through an online fundraising website as of Friday morning.
