Coastguard teams have rescued a man who was found stuck in mud at Prinsted, near Emsworth.

Crews from Selsey, Hayling Island and Portsmouth were called to the scene at just after 3.15pm on Saturday (January 9th).

Mud technicians were able to find the man and get him free, before he was transferred to a stretcher and winched to safe ground.

Teams were able to winch the man to safety on Saturday afternoon

Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team said the man complained of feeling cold but needed no medical assistance, and was given blankets and safety advice.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said:

"If you become stuck in mud try to stay calm and spread your weight as much as possible, avoid moving and call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

If you see someone who has become stuck, don’t try to rescue them yourself, without specialist equipment you can easily become stuck too.

“The coast and the sea can catch you out whether you’re local or not. Our message remains: call 999 Coastguard if you’re in trouble.

"Please help us and our families stay safe. Be aware of the risks, keep your distance.”
