Plans to expand a major wind farm off the Sussex coast could create more sustainable energy to power more than one millions homes.

Rampion 2 could see the current wind farm, which is currently the only one off the south coast of England, double in size!

An extra 116 turbines would reduce carbon emissions by around 1.8 million tonnes per year and create jobs in the area.

A ‘virtual village hall’ exhibition experience has gone live here for people to find out more while sharing views and any local information they think may be mportant for the project design.

Cllr Daniel Humphreys, Chair of Greater Brighton said: “I very much welcome these proposals in principle to expand the hugely successful Rampion offshore wind farm in the City Region. The existing site brings enormous environmental benefits to our area and is a very visible sign of the benefits of developing our growing green and maritime tech sector.

“The formal and unanimous adoption of the GB10 pledges on sustainability last year shows that City Region members are determined in their efforts to be ahead of the curve in environmental innovation and green growth. Capturing clean natural energy is crucial to helping us achieve these aims which will deliver real benefits to the one million residents in our area.”
