Teacher in court accused of historic sex assaults at Chichester school
The alleged offences took place between 1965 and 1986
A retired teacher has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting boys at schools in Chichester and Salisbury.
Piers Le Cheminant faces charges over alleged incidents at Oakwood Preparatory School and Salisbury Cathedral School between 1965 and 1986.
The 75-year-old, of Spitchwick Manor, Poundsgate, Newton Abbot, Devon appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court via video-link on Tuesday afternoon (February 16th).
He is charged with a total of 15 offences of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14.
Le Cheminant entered no pleas and the case was sent for a hearing at Portsmouth Crown Court on March 16th.
The prosecution follows an investigation by detectives from the Sussex Police Complex Abuse Unit, in co-operation with officers from Wiltshire Police.
Sussex Police emphasised that the allegations relate to a period ending more than 35 years ago, and have no connection with any current or recent staff, management or pupils at the schools.
Current management at both schools have given full co-operation throughout the investigation.
