Swindon Borough Council has set itself 27 new tasks to make improvements by 2025.

These include making Swindon greener and more sustainable, building homes, and investing in services for young people.

Leader of the council, David Renard, said:

“Ensuring that residents can live healthy, productive lives supported by a vibrant and growing economy is the council’s reason for being.

“This plan outlines how we will do that in the next four years.

It’s after a survey of around 800 residents revealed the main improvements should be road and pavement repairs, traffic congestion and reasons to visit the town centre.

The council has committed to investing in roads and car parks and continue their “war on potholes.”

They also have set out plans of a four-year improvement plan for Coate Water Park and Lydiard Park, and providing all homes with gigabit speed broadband by 2030.

David Renard added:

“The next couple of years in particular are likely to be very difficult. Demand for services will go up while income from parking and fee-paying services will go down as the way that people choose to work evolves.

“We must therefore be especially focused on delivering those things that matter most for Swindon.”
