Trains services through Swindon and Bristol Parkway are either delayed or cancelled because of flooding on the line.

Great Western Railway says the track has submerged after heavy downpours over the New Years weekend.

Trains either aren’t running or are delayed by 40 minutes.

The train operator has warned the disruption is set to last until the end of the day.

It said: “Due to heavy rain flooding the railway between Swindon and Bristol Parkway, this line is closed.

“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised.

“Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”

It’s as the Environment Agency has issued eight flood warnings for the Wiltshire area.

Most of the warnings are for the River Avon which has burst its banks at Bradford-on-Avon, Melksham, Chippenham and Malmesbury, as well as the River Kennet at Mildenhall.

Residents there are warned of risk to homes, roads and farmland and are being told to ‘act now.’
