Police appeal after fraud incidents in Swindon
Two residents selling items on Facebook Marketplace ended up out of pocket after a run in with a fraudster
Police are urging residents in Swindon to be vigilant when selling high value items on Facebook Marketplace following two separate incidents of fraud.
In the first case, a PlayStation was listed for sale and on another occasion, a Luis Vutton bag was put up for sale by locals in the town this week.
Both agreed to sell their items with a man and agreed a price: one for £500 and the other for £1,200.
He agreed to transfer the money and showed both sellers a screenshot of the transaction, and was handed the items.
However, the banking app used is believed to have been fake and no money has been transferred on either occasion.
Police have now release a picture of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incidents.
