Emmerdale actor Mark Jordon has announced his engagement to co-star Laura Norton! The 53-year-old, who has played Daz Spencer on the soap since 2014, took to Twitter to reveal that he popped the question to Laura, who plays Kerry Wyatt, on New Year's Eve.

Mark, who is due to face trial in July for grievous bodily harm and assault - which he denies - spoke about his year of 'highest highs and lowest lows' as he announced his engagement to Laura, who he has been dating for nearly four years.

He wrote, 'Well 2018 had some of the highest highs and the lowest lows. Really got to feel the love of true friends . Feel blessed by the support of my children and elated to have heard the word “yes “ from the most beautiful woman in the world.'

Although Laura has yet to tweet anything about the news, she has been liking messages of congratulations from fans, who have sent their support to the couple.

Mark opened up about his romance with Laura to the Daily Record, saying, "My kids adore her. We are a good family unit. She adores my kids, I’m loving work. I love this character and who I’m working with and have got the most beautiful girlfriend. My life could not be any better."

Mark, who previously appeared on Heartbeat as PC Phil Bellamy, shares 21-year-old Joseph and 17-year-old Poppy with his ex-wife, Downton Abbey actress Siobhan Finneran, who he divorced five years ago.

He is due to appear in court in July this year after being charged with grievous bodily harm upon 68-year-old Andrew Potts and assault by beating on his girlfriend, Rosalind O'Neill - charges he denied.

Taking to Instagram, Fiona shared a loved-up snap of herself and Simon with the caption, 'Two days ago this beautiful man asked me to be his wife.
