People in Teesside reminded about warm spaces as energy bills set to rise
Many charities and organisations are opening up their rooms
People in Teesside are being reminded that warm spaces are available to help lower their own energy bills.
It comes as the price cap is set to rise, so many charities and organisations are opening up their rooms for the winter.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council says there are more than 60 buildings available for people.
Leader Bob Cook said: "Many of them have become established as key assets within the community so obviously people are using them. They're even using them in the summer as well so it's about getting them out, especially if people are in isolation and they're alone. It gets people meeting each other.
"The original idea was to try and save people's energy bills and obviously in the winter time going into public buildings where it was warm and you could do things. We did decide to change it to 'community spaces' because they offer much more than just warmth and they're genuinely open all year around now."
