Man arrested after two killed in Barnsley crossroads crash

A man's been questioned by South Yorkshire Police over the crash yesterday afternoon.

A 65-year old man has been arrested following a crash at a crossroads in Barnsley which killed a man and woman.

South Yorkshire Police say a 75-year-old man and 85-year-old woman died after reports a white Suzuki and grey Range Rover collided at the Baragh Green crossroads at 2pm on Saturday 23 March.

It's believed several other vehicles were also involved.

Seven other people suffered serious but not life threatening injuries. They are being treated in hospital.

Detectives say the families of those killed are being supported by specialist officers, whilst the man arrested has since been bailed.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. They are asking anyone who saw the collision and who might have footage of it to get in touch with them.
