Her Majesty The Queen has been in Shrewsbury today (27 March) and was handed posters by well-wishers for the Princess of Wales, following her cancer diagnosis.

Queen Camilla was cheered by crowds who lined Market Square, waving flags, as she visited the town's farmers' market.

She stopped to speak to people who'd gathered, including ten-year-old Harriet and Lois Waterston, aged six, who handed over the posters the pair had made the day before, decorated with stars and hearts.

The Queen said the Princess of Wales is “thrilled” by all the public support she's received.

Her Majesty toured the market, meeting local producers and artisan businesses. Jenny and Stuart Jones, who organise the event, were among those to meet with Queen Camilla.

She also visited Old Market Hall to sign the official visitors book and met members of the local Bee Keepers’ Association.

The second visit of the day was to Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings – the home of the grandfather of the modern skyscraper.

Her Majesty was given a tour of the restored site and met volunteers from local groups including ‘The Repair Café’, Shrewsbury Food Hub, and Shropshire Supports Refugees.

The Queen also joined members of the Royal Voluntary Service for a wreath-making craft, saying: "If I had the time, I could make this look very nice."

As she was led into a side room for the activity, Camilla joked that she hoped it was not going to be tap dancing that she would be taking part in.

As her visit came to an end, Her Majesty unveiled a plaque to commemorate the day at the newly-restored Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings.
