Over 250 personnel from the British Armed Forces, as well as volunteers were in Birmingham today to raise vital funds for the Royal British Legion, ahead of Remembrance Day on Friday.

They were at various locations across the city centre including New Street Station where they were also joined by a military band.

Classed as the Midlands biggest one day Fundraiser, the funds raised are going towards supporting the Armed Forces Community and their families.

Sergeant Adam Sefton, from the Royal Yeomanry was at the event and told us it was great to see so many people donating.

"Seeing the good work that the British Legion do, it's imperative that people give as much as they can," he said.

Anne-Marie Jones, the Community Fundraising Manager for the East and West Midlands, said: "It's amazing to be part of all of this.

"You get to meet so many lovely people. To see how generous the public are, and the things we can then do with that money is just incredible," she said.

The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal takes place from Thursday 27th October until Remembrance Sunday on Sunday 13th November. You can donate to the charity here.
