High Streets in the West Midlands are set to get a share of £830 million.

Areas set to benefit include Kidderminster - who are getting £20 million from the government's Future High Streets Fund.

Worcester’s getting £18 million and Brierly Hill Town Centre in Dudley’s getting a cash boost of just under £10 million.

All three were in the top 15 bids selected by ministers.

The funding will help these areas transform their high streets into vibrant hubs for future generations and to protect and create thousands of jobs.

It's hoped, also help to protect and create thousands of jobs in a range of industries, which have been affected during the coronavirus pandemic.

Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier said;

"A brilliant Boxing Day award for Wyre Forest and Kidderminster. £20.5 million to invest in Kidderminster's town centre is the third biggest award across the country, and our bid was amongst the 15 best in the country.

This is the culmination of several years work and thanks to Councillor Marcus Hart for getting this started when he was leader of the council.

There's a lot of hard work that goes in to all these bids, and it has been a delight to support officers at Wyre Forest District Council to secure this award - something that will make a very real difference to our district.”
