Fishing boat rescued by Wells RNLI

It had suffered engine failure

A fishing boat, with three people onboard have been rescued by Wells RNLI.

The All Weather Lifeboat launched just before 8pm on Wednesday (23 September) after the vessel sufffered main engine failure 20 nautical miles off Wells Harbour.

It took an hour and a half to find the fishing boat, whose crew had carried out a temporary repair to the damaged engine and had started making way again under their own power.

The lifeboat stayed with the vessel and escorted her back to Wells Harbour.

At 11.45 pm with the fishing vessel safely alongside the quay, the lifeboat returned to the station and was ashore at 11.52 pm for recovery on the east side of the boathouse. The lifeboat was subsequently sanitised, refuelled and was ready again for service at 1.00 am on 24 September.
