Two people have been rescued by Wells RNLI, after their inflatable dinghy capsized at Blakeney.

They were out on the 4-metre inflatable, fishing for mackerel when it was caught on the outgoing tide bear the harbour entrance yesterday (24 September).

The inshore lifeboat was paged at 2.22pm by Humber Coastguard and spotted the pair, who had managed to scamble onboard the upturned hull of their dinghy, which had already floated ¾ of a mile offshore and was in danger of being swept out to sea,

Apart from being exhausted, wet and very cold, the casualties didn't need medical assistane and were taken back to the harbour by the RNLI. The dinghy was also safely recovered.

Chris Hardy, Wells Lifeboat Operations Manager:

"Our volunteer crew quickly located the casualties and rescued them from the upturned hull of their dinghy. Thankfully, other than being tired and cold, they were unharmed, and we were pleased to be able to bring them back to safety.

"We'd always advise people to take a means of calling for help with them when they're out on the water and to always wear a lifejacket."
