Woman kidnapped by man posing as taxi driver in Norwich

A man has now been arrested and charged in connection with what happened

A man has been charged with kidnapping offences after a woman was driven away by a man pretending to be a taxi driver in Norwich.

Police were called at around 5:10am on Saturday (May 21) after reports of a man posing as a taxi driver picking up two people on Riverside Road.

One of the passengers, a man, was told to withdraw cash to pay for the journey. When he got out on Plumstead Road the car drove away with the female passenger still inside.

The car was later located on Pilling Park Road at 6:15am. The passenger was safe and well.

37 year old Grant McCluskey, of Cedar Road, has been charged with kidnap, kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence and of administering a substance with intent to overpower.

He is due before Norwich Magistrates Court today (May 23).
