Netflix warn AGAINST viewers taking part in the Bird Box Challenge

If you're a Netflix subscriber, then it's highly likely you will have seen Bird Box, the new Netflix Original film starring Sandra Bullock, John Malkovich and Sarah Paulson. And now there's a challenge taking the Internet by storm!

For those who haven't yet watched the grueling, heart-stopping, psychological thriller, here's a quick synopsis. A deadly force is taking over the world, causing mass suicides, so when pregnant Malorie (Sandra Bullock) finds herself holed up inside a stranger's house, six years later, she has to find undertake the perilous two-day journey, blindfolded, in search of hope.

Bird Box

Now, following the film that has become super popular over the Christmas period, some viewers have decided to take part in the Bird Box Challenge, which sees people doing mundane tasks blindfolded. However, it seems that a few fans are taking the challenge too far, causing Netflix US to issue a warning.

In a tweet which has now had more than 200K likes, the online streaming service have said, 'Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.'

Since the challenge started there have been reports of people blindfolding themselves and getting close to traffic, with another report telling of a child running into a wall.

ELITE Season 2

Disenchantment Season 2

From the creator of The Simpsons, Disenchantment returns for a second season. This adult animated comedy fantasy series was super popular earlier this year and returns for Netflix in 2019.

Stranger Things 3

Another popular Netflix series that we can watch is Stranger Things 3.

This isn't the first time that people have had to be warned against an Internet challenge. Last year, Drake's song 'In My Feelings' spawned the Keke challenge which saw people jumping out of moving cars, resulting in a number of people hurting themselves.
