Calls for health care staff to be prioritised for fuel
There's growing concerned amongst nurses
There's calls for nurses in West Yorkshire to be prioritised for fuel.
We're hearing how health care workers in the region are concerned they won't make it to work today, due to the on-going fuel crisis.
Dr Stephanie Aiken, Operational Manager for Yorkshire and the Humber region said:
"They've already been incredibly challenged over the last 18 months, and many are feeling very demoralised.
"This is another issue and another barrier to ensuring the retention of our caring and nursing workforce.
"Health and care workers need to be a priority, because they work in a safety critical way, and if they aren't able to attend work or they're late, then patient care will be compromised.
"We will have staff who struggle to get to work, at a time when we are 40,000 registered nurses short, and this adds to the stress that those at work are under."
