Firefighters are continuing to battle a blaze on Marsden Moor, 48 hours after it broke out.

In an update on Wednesday, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said they were "battling smoke pockets" in a bid to stop it reigniting and spreading.

The service said: "Damping down on the moors involves digging into the ground where the hotspots are and applying water.

"This isn’t easy, as getting water onto the moor means having to use our all-terrain vehicles"

People are still being asked to avoid the area around Wessenden Road.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but is being investigated.
