Leeds Beckett University wants to combat period poverty around the city

Leeds Beckett University has announced it will start supplying free period products to students across Leeds.

The University wants to combat period poverty, where women struggle to afford the essential sanitary items.

Period poverty affects 1 in 10 girls in the UK, and within the last year, one million girls faced period poverty during the pandemic.

The charity, Freedom4Girls, which is based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, provides period products to those in need in the city as well as providing education on menstruation.

Tina Leslie, who is the founder of the period poverty charity, has praised Leeds Beckett University for giving out free period products to students:
