The leader of Bradford Council has said that she wants the government to rethink its approach to levelling up- and provide new rail links for Bradford.

The route connecting Bradford to the North West was cancelled last year- it'll now only come to the edge of West Yorkshire.

Bradford has also recently submitted their bid for City of Culture 2025, however, it has been revealed that the city also lost majority of its Levelling Up funding on the same day.

We spoke to the leader of Bradford Council, Susan Hinchliffe, and she said:

"Decisions like that make people in Bradford think if the Government really care. I genuinely want the Government to care and I will make the case, but they do need to put their money where their mouth is.

"The Northern Powerhouse Rail decision wasn't good for Bradford and therefore we won't take no for an answer so the Levelling Up White Paper doesn't do anything about that.

"that doesn't mean we don't stop talking to the Government about that and push to get the right decision."
