10 things you can do to avoid the football

Not a footy fan? Here's how to escape...

The football season only just ended but now you're facing another month of it - with games nearly every day! Before you despair too much, here are some ideas of how you can best pass the time.

1. Spa day. Rather than sitting at home while your family or partner sit screaming at the TV, just settle down and enjoy some tranquil 'you time'.

2. Go to the cinema. Most films last more than two hours so you'll not only miss the game but the highlights too!

3. Have a nap. If football literally bores you to sleep then embrace it! A sleep cycle apparently lasts 90 minutes too, it's like our brains know...

4. Do an online shop. You still get to sit in the same room as everyone but you'll be celebrating new purchases instead of goals.

5. Do a workout. While everyone else is sat drinking and eating watching the footy you can do the opposite!

6. Reconnect with friends. All those messages you've been meaning to reply to and calls you were supposed to return? Well now's the time to work on it! Maybe some will even be free for a catch up.

7. Go for a walk. We're all so busy with our lives we forget to actually stop and just go enjoy being outside. Whether it's to a picturesque place, a walk into town or even just wandering around your estate, go get some fresh air!

8. Tick off the 'to do' list. All those boring tasks you don't want to do, well they'll seem positively exciting compared to watching the football.

9. Do some gardening. It's summer so fingers crossed the weather will be nice. If it is then head into the garden and make it ready for barbeque season.

10. Listen to the radio. Don't spend time watching the TV, tune into Greatest Hits Radio and listen to all your favourite songs.
