The sister of British Olympic gold medallist Laura Trott has come under fire for being 'bitter' and 'jealous' following an interview on Good Morning Britain.

Laura's older sister Emma, who lives and works as a personal trainer and cycling coach in New Zealand, has appeared on Good Morning Britain a couple of times this week following the success of her sister in Rio.

In the most recent interview Emma was asked what she was doing while Laura was racing, to which she replied, "I was working, so I'm self employed. If I don't work then I don't get paid."

She went on to say that she was at a client's house, who happened to be a fellow Brit and was invited in to watch the race.

The presenters then went on to ask Emma how hard Laura had worked in the run up to Olympics to which Emma replied, "Laura’s not worked any harder than anybody else has, everyone works hard to get to the level in which them 24 riders were at."

Following the airing on this interview Emma has come under fire from viewers on social media who have called her 'bitter' and 'jealous'.

However Laura has responded to these comments on Twitter saying that her sister is one of her biggest supporters and that she was sure a lot of people who care about her were working.

She finishes off her series of tweets saying 'I love you'.

Laura won an historic fourth gold medal last night in Rio saying, "What I did at London 2012 was incredible and I was so so proud. So to come back and to it again is unbelievable."
