Team GB enjoy most successful Olympic day on 'Sensational Sunday'

It was all about the famous 'Super Saturday' back in London 2012 but last night Team GB'S athletes enjoyed Britain's most successful day in modern Olympics which moved them up to second in the overall medal table.

After watching Mo Farah make history winning the men's 10,000m in the early hours of Sunday morning, Team GB were clearly inspired and showed it in their performances.

Gymnast Max Whitlock made British history after winning two gold medals in just under two hours. Max is now the first British athlete to win two golds on a single day in a massive 44 years.

First Max surprisingly picked up gold in the men's floor performance and then managed to compose himself for a flawless performance on the pommel horse to beat off competition from fellow Team GB gymnast Louis Smith who took silver.

Tennis star Andy Murray matched his London 2012 performance after beating Juan Martin Del Potro 7-5 4-6 6-2 7-5 in the men’s singles final. The impressive victory means Murray is the first tennis player ever to win two Olympic gold medals in singles.

Golfer Justin Rose also kept his composure in the final stages to beat his rival Henrik Stenson to win the first gold medal in Olympic golf in 112 years.

It was then all eyes on the Velodrome to witness an all-round Team GB final with Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner competing for gold. Favourite Kenny came out on top in the first two races to scoop gold from his team mate in the best of three final.

Kenny now has the same amount of golds as Olympic legends Sir Bradley Wiggins and Sir Steve Redgrave and sits only one behind fellow cyclist Sir Chris Hoy.

After an array of unbelievable performances in the first week of the Rio games, Team GB will be hoping to mirror their success as the second week kicks off.

The team currently sit in second behind USA on the medals table with 15 gold, 16 silver and 7 bronze.
